永遠へのトンネル Tunnel to eternity

The tunnel at the ‘Kaiten’ base on Ozushima, Tokuyama. During World War 2, this was the base for ‘Kaiten’ human torpedoes. This tunnel, which leads to the sea, was used for transporting the torpedoes to the launch site. The pilots, too, walked through this tunnel to their craft- their final steps before a mission intended to end in their death. A sobering walk, even now.
